Congratulations go out to Carmen Pierri, who just won The Voice Italy this past week! Carmen hails from Montoro, Avellino Province, and, at age 16, was the youngest of this year’s contestants.
The Voice Italy has the same format and concept as its American counterpart, where participants enter via a blind audition where the coaches can only hear the musicians, not see them. Four coaches train the talent in their group, all hoping to win the coveted title.
Pierri was coached by another Campanian musical superstar, Gigi D’Alessio. Other coaches include Morgan, Gué Pequeno, and Elettra Lamborghini.
Pierri’s hometown of Montoro is one of Irpinia’s newest locales– it was officially created in 2013 when the towns of Montoro Interiore and Montoro Superiore merged following a referendum. It was granted town status in 2015.
Pierri’s new single, “Verso il Mare” is now playing on Italian radio… click below to listen to her as she performs it live during the finale of The Voice Italy!
